The article starts from street ethnography to analyze the journalistic coverage of Avenida Hercílio Luz, in the Florianópolis’s downtown (SC, Brazil). The objectives are to identify 1) themes of interest and 2) themes that are absent in local journalism, but potentially capable of leading to reflections on the city from street coverage from the perspective of urban anthropology. The results show that the coverage thematizes use conflicts, but does not deepen the understanding of the urban experience from the perspective of street users.
