Abstract
Abstract: the theme of this study was the teaching-learning process of students with type II Spinal Muscular Atrophy in a municipal school in Joinville/SC from the perspective of Occupational Therapy, with the objective of identifying the challenges of this process regarding school inclusion and demonstrate the reality of teachers in working with the target public student of special education in schools and show how occupational therapists can contribute to this student together with teachers in the school environment. This is a qualitative research and as the chosen technique to interpret the data, content analysis was used according to (BARDIN, 2011) and (FRANCO, 2005). The article was divided into three spheres of categories: 1) Type II Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), which addresses the concept and information about the pathology; 2) Method, which explains the step by step of how it was carried out and 3) Research results, where it was possible to identify that there are several challenges faced by the participants of this research, such as analyzing and developing adaptations, the concern to provide an environment conducive to teaching-learning, in addition to expressing how the Occupational Therapy profession is fundamental to the teaching-learning process, in addition to showing the need for investment in continuing education for teachers.
