Abstract

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can compromise communication verbally or not, with manifestations of repetitive movements and moments of detachment from contact with reality. Therefore, it is essential for physiotherapists to intervene early, as this will be fundamental in contributing to neuropsychomotor development, stimulating skills and awakening social interaction. For that reason, the present study aims to analyze the relevance of physiotherapy in the process of social inclusion of children with ASD. The research was carried out through an integrative review of literature published between 2002 and 2023, with searches in the SciELO, EBSCO, PEDro, as well as an intentional search for documents published by national bodies related to the research topic on Google operating systems. From the selected material, three categories were defined to present the results, based on the relevance of physiotherapy in the process of social inclusion of children with ASD: Social inclusion of children with ASD; Physiotherapy to promote child development; and the role of Physiotherapy in the process of social inclusion of children with ASD. The contribution of physiotherapy to the child's integral development was evident, thus helping in the child's social inclusion process.
