This work sought to analyze how the scientific productions of Historical-Cultural Psychology over the last twelve years in Brazil contribute to the work with autistic children. To this end, a literature review was carried out based on articles, theses and dissertations that discuss the issue in question. The research results were analyzed in three categories: the first, which deals with presenting the main concepts of Historical-Cultural Psychology present in the discussion about autism; the second, which aimed to reflect on the contexts present in the research studied; and the third, which sought to put the concept of Defectology proposed by Vygotski into dialogue with the perspective of the Social Model of Disability and neurodiversity. After analyzing and discussing the data, it was possible to consider that this theoretical-conceptual perspective makes a vast contribution to breaking pathologizing paradigms about autism, offering other ways of understanding the diversity of human experience.
